I hope everyone is having an awesome Thursday! When I logged on yesterday and switched over to Twitch to check out who was streaming, I noticed a few WoW Streamers who had phrases like "Expansion Hype" as their stream titles. Naturally this made me curious and so I headed over to the WoW website to check and there was the above image.
In the past, an announcement of a new WoW expansion would have gotten me excited. I would have been on the edge of my seat, searching for any clues on what the next expansion would be. I would have dove head first into the forums to read what others were saying. However, this time around I really could care less.
You see, I had hoped that WoW:WoD would reignite my love of this game. Sadly, it did not. I wish I could point to one thing or another that was wrong, but I cannot. The whole expansion just felt boring. I suppose if I were required to point my finger to one thing, it would be that this expansion further isolated me as a player. What I mean is that I use to love to log in and run content with my friends and guild mates. With the introduction of the random queues, most everyone just logs in and does their thing and logs out. That feeling of running with a group has for the most part died. Now I suppose this is more of an individual feeling, in this case mine, versus the whole of those left playing WoW, but never the less, it is the reason that my love for WoW has dropped so low.
Will I buy the new expansion? Yes, I will because I have a lot invested in my characters and I truly love the lore and the core game. What I will not be doing is spending countless hours that I now devote to games such as Hearthstone and Minecraft, playing WoW. At least if it remains as it currently is. So what about you all? What is your initial thoughts on the pending announcement? Leave them in the comments section and I will see you guys next time!
