I was going to wait until Thursday to post this, but gosh darn it... I couldn't! So instead of a "Throwback Thursday" type post, I created my own new fancy day in Toss Back Tuesday! I spent most of my day today, aside from the hour of terror this morning in my attempted commute to work, cleaning up my PC. Time for an exaggerated statement! It has been ten years since I last cleaned up the files (more like a six really) and as I am getting closer to finally building the new one, I figured that the snow day would be a good day to begin the task!
So I dove into the my computer files and realized I really need to be much more organized. I probably had no less than twenty "Holy Shock" folders hidden all over the place! I cannot even begin to count the number of random locations I have found screenshots from WoW, Diablo III, Hearthstone, and a few other games; however, I am trying to take my time to actually sort them all and properly label them. While reviewing one of these great treasure troves, I came across the above picture.
Go ahead and take a really close look at that sucker and begin to reminisce on the glory days of the Burning Crusade! While your head is filling up with all of those memories, let me point out some of the things that stood out to me!
The very first thing I noticed is that I had absolutely zero add-ons running at the time of this photo! Not a single blessed one! For those of you who may not have been around here very long, there was once a time where I ran entire raids without a single add-on. Then again, I also ran without any macros, hot keys, and other such things too. I refer to those times as my nub years, but by the great Light, they were some great times!
So take a look at Widowmaker now. Notice that green little face there! How many of you Hunters remember back in the day where you carried at least one bag completely loaded with random foods? For those of you that might be newer to WoW or the Hunter class, there was a time where you had to feed your pet in order to keep it happy and with you. The worst part was that each pet family (spider, bear, cat, etc.), required different kinds of food. Some liked meat and others liked fish, but not matter what they liked, you made sure to keep stacks of it on hand so you were not left high and dry when you needed that little buddy of yours!
The next thing that jumped out at me was that I was duel wielding swords it appears. Man do I miss how awesome that looked! I am sure Rogues, Warriors, and all of the other melee classes do not miss those days. C'mon, you Hunters out there know that you rolled need on every darn weapon that dropped in the game due to the fact that technically you could use most of them! I think I still have my Merciless axes from back in the day for Lrem.
Speaking of weapons! Check out my bags! Yup, that is a genuine quiver sitting there! One of my single favorite things to do on the auction house was break down stacks of the epic quality arrows and bullets into stacks of 100, and then sell those stacks to the players who used the original WoW auction house interface! I made so much gold off of those poor people. Then again I made gold off of a lot of people who were a few arrows short of a quiver if you know what I mean!
Something else I noticed while looking at this old pic was that I had "Eyes of the Beast" on my bar still! I use to love to hit that ability and have Widow chase after Edyion! There was nothing better than seeing the world through the eyes of my precious little Widowmaker!
Alright the final thing I noticed here is that I was level sixty and running the Blood Furnace! How many remember the old days before dungeon finder? You know the days right? Where you actually cared about your reputation on your server in order to not be black listed as a jerk? Man I use to hate those long waits while spamming for a tank, but now I miss those days too. No matter what anyone says, I still think that the quality of the groups were much better and the social interaction was more civil because you had to rely on your fellow players to get anything done, but that is a soapbox for another day, am I right?
So how about all of you! Anyone have some old pictures from back in the Vanilla or BC days? Heck I guess we could even consider Wrath to be the good old days eh? If you do and you want to share them, then I would love to see them! I know I kind of rambled on about some old features that have been done away with, so I am curious what things do you remember (both good and bad) that are no longer in the game? Well, that is going to do it for me today, catch you all next time!
