Why hello there everyone! Sorry that things have been quiet here the last few days, but I had some issues with my car and had a bit of a stomach virus as well. What a nasty combination huh? Well, the good news is that I am at least feeling better, and the largest of the issues with my car has been resolved. Now I just need to track down the last few minor problems with it. Of course you guys are not here to hear about my real world problems are you? Nah, you guys are more interested in knowing why I have a post up titled Imbued Netherweave Bags, am I right?
Well, the truth is that this past week, my biggest gold earner was the Imbued Netherweave Bags! I couldn't believe that people were willing to pay 250 gold per bag. It blew my mind! My usual top earner is the good old reliable Netherweave Bag which I usually sell for a whopping 50 gold per bag. Well, let's take a look at the numbers then shall we?
I started the week on Saturday, January 18, 2014, with 2,437 gold, 56 silver, and 12 copper. I worked the market primarily focusing on bags/containers this week and finished the week out on January 27, 2014, with 4,299 gold, 86 silver, and 44 copper. That is not too bad of a take for spending around five minutes each day peddling a few bags.
How about you all? Anyone have some surprising top earners? A new trend that they have noticed? Well, I think that about wraps things up here for today. Hope that you all have had (or are having) a great day and I will catch you all later!
Recently I had been working on an ongoing series where I highlighted the shenanigans that were my listings at the auction houses of Azeroth. I had placed that series on hiatus simply because I did not have the time to dedicate to keeping the series running as it was. I mention that today because I really, really want to bring back the Auction House report!
Today is not that day though! Sorry, if you had your hopes up. The good news is that it is on the radar of things to do; however, in order to bring it back properly, I will need to first get the ten bank guild's contents in order. Right now I have something like forty-thousand items floating between my different characters. The Light knows how much more gold is floating between them all. It is my hope though that I can get those banks in order by the end of this month, or at the very least have them managed enough in order to determine what I have for listing purposes.
So in the meantime, I am simply going to do a gold update post in lieu of the real deal. I am not sure what day is the best day for this post, but right now I am looking at doing it on Tuesdays. (Yup that means I am already a day late!)
I started tracking my gold on 1/17/14 (last Friday). At the end of the day, after having listed all of the items on the auction house, I had a pittance of 784 gold, 9 silver, and 76 copper. Having worked the auction house very minimally, I had accumulated 2,437 gold, 56 silver, and 12 copper, by end of business on 1/21/14 (aka yesterday or Tuesday!). The biggest money maker for me has been in selling low level gear and bags of varying size. Hope you all are having a great day and see you guys next time!
You know the one thing I really hate in life is the people who decide to throw in the towel and give up on a situation. Yes, we all have those days where it seems like nothing is going our way. Heck, I have personally been running on about six years of things not going my way! Does that give me a right to throw my hands up in the air and proclaim that I quit? No, in no way, shape, or form does it give me that right. In fact it should cause just the opposite reaction in us. It should make dig our heels in and lean forward into the storm and press on. I know this may seem like a somewhat different post, but trust me it was needed today. I am simply going to close it out by saying that I pity the fool who gives up.
Alright, I believe it is time to get down to some business around here! The last few days has been spent with sorting out what is working and what is not working with the new site, and I believe that we have most of the major issues figured out. With that behind us, now we need to look to the future and talk a little bit about what we actually plan on doing around here!
One of the things that I have been kicking around for a while, is posting all new videos (The Usual Suspects, The Unranked, The Nub Seeker, etc.) here first. Then after a week or so, having it post over at the Game Slayer Nation's YouTube channel. I am not quite sure if I am going to do this or not, but it is an idea.
I think one thing that should already be evident about the new Holy Shock is that we are going to expand to cover a wider variety of games (evidenced by the quick review of Castle Clash the other day). So keep checking back often to see what new game we look at next! (If you have a game that you would love for us to take a look at, then drop a comment with the name of the game and we will see what can be done!)
I know one of the biggest weaknesses that I have had in the past with the blog was related to the infrequent posting. Some weeks we would be firing on all cylinders and have something up each day and then there was the more normal weeks where nothing appeared at all. Going forward, it is my goal that there will be more days with posts than without posts.
So what can you expect? Well, right now I am reading through all of the old posts from our past to determine what worked and what did not work. So anything is a possibility. We could just continue doing the random posts (like the ones this week) or we could end up bringing back more regular series (like Mondays Mean Minecraft, 20, etc.).
Well, I know that this post may not have answered all of the questions as in depth as you may have hoped for, but I will close with saying that the overall goal for the new Holy Shock is consistency. Once we are consistent, we can then move onto the more challenging things.
Today marks six years since my Father passed away. Not a day goes by that I do not miss him, but not a day goes by that I am not thankful for all of the lessons that he taught me growing up. So today, I simply want to pay him honor. I hope you all have a blessed day and we will resume our regular shenanigans around here tomorrow.
So recently my friend Haqzore, from over at the Game Slayer Nation, got involved in a game called Clash of Champions. He made a post about the game and I was intrigued, so I checked it out. I really liked the playstyle of this genre of games, as is evidence of the love affair I had with Backyard Monsters. The main problem that I had with the game was that I just felt underwhelmed, especially given all of the advertising I have seen about the game. So I set about searching for something that would impress me. That led me to Castle Clash!
Castle Clash has all of the gameplay elements found in this genre: units that can be upgraded, buildings that can upgraded, several different types of currencies, and of course is founded on the concept of micro transactions. The thing that sets this game apart from the others (for me) is that it introduces heroic characters. These are special units that require quite a bit of effort to get and upgrade, but they are well worth it.
In addition to the standard gameplay of fighting other players and dungeons, which grow quite difficult very quickly, the game offers a MOBA style of mini-game play via its arena system. While I will not spoil the fun of this system for you, if you like games like League of Legends, then you will probably love playing this little mini-game. The added bonus of playing is that it helps you acquire honor badges which in turn allows you to acquire additional heroes!
If you love this genre of game, then I highly recommend giving this one a shot. If you have never played this type of a game before, then this is a great one to jump in on!
Welcome to the brand new Holy Shock! I wanted to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for reading the blog. When I first started this blog, I never imagined it being anything more than just a place for me to share the silly things that happened on my adventures in Azeroth.
Alright, now that we have the sappy, heart-felt stuff out of the way let's get down to business! Now typically first posts should talk a little bit about the author and then progress into what the blog is actually going to be about. Well, I think it is safe to say that here at Holy Shock, nothing is ever done the "usual" way. I will let you be the judge of if that has been a good thing or not. Either way, why break from tradition?
You know one thing I have really worked on doing over the last year has been making sure to include some sort of image or quote with every post; however, I hate just throwing up an image for the sake of having one. I try to find one that means something, either directly related to the topic of the post or something humorous that might play off of something that was touched on within the post. Today's image pretty much sums up my feelings about the anonymous internet posters and the not-so-anonymous internet posters.
One thing that I have learned in life is that if you dare to take a step out and attempt to do something different or take the lead on something, then the "haters" are going to come out of the woodwork to let you know that you will fail. Another thing I have learned over the years of leading a guild, writing a blog, and making YouTube videos is that sometimes, they might just be right. Then again, if you never take that chance, then how will you ever know what will happen?
So to all of the "haters" out there, I say thank you. Not for the negative comments, energy, or rants. No, I say thank you because every time someone says, "you can't", "you sucked", "you're gonna fail", or anything else along those lines, it only serves to make me more resolute in pushing ahead and learning from the things that worked and didn't work.
To those who have a dream, whether it be to become a professional athlete, to start your own business, or to create a premier online gaming community, to you I say keep on keeping on baby!
If you read this post and it brought a funny comment to your mind, then share it with us here at Holy Shock or over on the Game Slayer Nation forums! Now get in the games!
